Southern Charity Hospital — helping Southlanders access care

It was great to see Southern Charity Hospital mark one year in operation, and to see Dana McStay share her dental story.

Dana was referred through Map My Mouth to Southern Charity Hospital(SCH), and her story shows how much oral health can affect confidence, daily life, and wellbeing.

Map My Mouth can help suitable patients with the first step — dental checks, X-rays or photos where needed, treatment planning, and referral information.

Referral acceptance is not guaranteed and depends on clinical and financial criteria, but we can help you work out what the next step might be.

Could SCH be an option?

Some patients may be suitable if they:

  • are 18 or over

  • live in the Southern catchment

  • cannot afford private dental care

  • are not eligible for ACC/MSD/WINZ support, or have already used it

  • have dental needs that fit SCH services

SCH may be able to help with some fillings, simple extractions, and root canal treatment for front teeth.
