About
Georgina Welsh
Oral Health Therapist
Kia ora!
I’m Georgina Welsh, an Oral Health Therapist based in Southland.
I graduated from Otago in 2012 with a Bachelor of Oral Health and have worked in a mix of public, private, teaching, and community oral health roles — from Southern DHB, to the NHS and 90 Harley Street in London, as well as volunteer dental work in Cambodia.
Over the years I’ve also taught in Oral Health programmes at AUT and Otago, examined for the Dental Council New Zealand, and served on the Health Practitioners’ Disciplinary Tribunal.
In 2025, I received the Hon. Dame Annette King Award for Excellence in Leadership and Oral Health. I’ve also completed postgraduate study in Adult Restorative Dental Care, which means I can offer more support for adult patients, including simple fillings where appropriate and within scope.
I started Map My Mouth because I know dental care can be expensive, confusing, and really easy to put off — especially when life is already busy.
A lot of people come in embarrassed, nervous, or worried they’ll get told off because they’ve put dental care off.
That’s not my style.
I’d rather help you understand what’s going on, what needs sorting, and what your options are.
Book an appointment or get in touch if you’d like Map My Mouth to visit your workplace, group, or community.
