About

Georgina Welsh

Oral Health Therapist

Georgina Welsh, BOH (Otago, 2012), is an Oral Health Therapist with a career that’s taken her from the Southern DHB to London’s famous dental practice – 90 Harley Street – and the NHS, along with volunteer dental work in Cambodia. She has taught in Oral Health programmes at AUT and Otago Universities, served on the Health Practitioners’ Disciplinary Tribunal, and examined for the Dental Council NZ.

In 2025, Georgina was recognised with the Hon. Dame Annette King Award for Excellence in Leadership and Oral Health and began postgraduate study in Adult Restorative Dental Care. She launched Map My Mouth, a mobile dental screening service tackling Southland’s access crisis head-on. By bringing assessments, treatment plans, and referral pathways directly to workplaces, community groups, and health providers, Georgina is changing how people access dental care – saving time, money, and stress while putting prevention first.
